this is not a metaphor for growth...

Let's be clear from the get-go, the title of this blog is not meant to be a metaphor for growth. I don't actually plan on doing any growing of the spiritual or emotional kind, although I have been patiently waiting to tack on one meager additional inch to my height for just over ten years now. I suppose it's either a sign of maturity or defeat that I've finally stopped referring to my height as five foot two-and-a-half (so the quest has really only been for a half inch all these years, despite the DMV's consistent refusal to include my rightfully grown half inch on any form of identification).

I may not be able to tell you what this blog is, or may ultimately become, but I know for certain what it is not. Or at least I hope I do.
